SACHS CLUTCH DISC
Manufacturing part number 1878 005 783

A clutch disc is a vital component of a car's manual transmission system. It is located between the engine flywheel and the transmission input shaft. The main function of the clutch disc is to engage and disengage the power flow between the engine and the transmission, allowing the driver to shift gears smoothly.

When the clutch pedal is pressed down, it causes the pressure plate to release the clutch disc from the engine flywheel. This disengages the engine's power, allowing the driver to change gears without causing damage to the transmission. Conversely, when the clutch pedal is released, the pressure plate applies pressure to the clutch disc which then makes it contact the flywheel, reconnecting the engine power flow to the transmission. This engagement of the clutch disc allows the car to move forward when the driver releases the brake and applies gas.
